Warren breaks program record, takes second in Dallas tournament

Senior Justin Warren completed a tournament for the record books, finishing second among 83 competitors with an 11-under 202 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. Led by Warren's effort, Little Rock placed sixth overall with a 7-under 845, the third-lowest tournament in program history.

UA Little Rock Bowen law students selected as clerks for Attorney General's office

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has selected nine second-year students from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law to serve as law clerks in the Attorney General's office for the fall session. The new law clerks include Michael Berry, Jonathan Hutto, Austin Kempker, Trent Minner, Rachel Moore, Alexis Pinkston, Allison Tschiemer, Chris Turansky, and Jacob Wickliffe. The law students will work in various departments to assist with legal research, draft memos and legal documents, and accompany lawyers at trials, client meetings, and hearings. "The law clerk program provides students an opportunity to experience a great service-learning environment," said Attorney General Rutledge. "Law clerks are exposed to the fulfilling experience of public service as they play a valuable role for the State, while also building relationships with some of Arkansas's top attorneys."

William G. Cooper Jr. Honors Program inductees

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of English recently announced the newest members of its William G. Cooper Jr. Honors Program. Completion of the program requires students to maintain an overall GPA of 3.25, with a grade point of 3.5 in English courses, satisfactory completion of the block of Cooper Honors courses, and a letter of certification from the Director of the Program.

Aaron Ramos both placed among the top-10 individually as Little Rock tied for third at the UTSA Lone Star Invitational at TPC San Antonio. Little Rock closes out the weather-shortened event with a 13-over 589, posting a 5-over 294 over the final 18 holes.

Internship puts UA Little Rock student one step closer to dream job

A University of Arkansas at Little Rock student has her heart set on working at one of the top technology companies in the world and is using her UA Little Rock classes and internships to get the experience she needs for the future of her dreams. Caleaha Virgil, a 21-year-old senior from Conway, is majoring in electronics and computer engineering technology. After she graduates from UA Little Rock in 2020, Virgil plans to work full-time for an engineering company for two years while earning a master's degree in engineering management. Then she plans to go after her heart's desire to work at a top tech company - Apple, Google, or Microsoft. Virgil is getting the experience she needs with unique classroom experiences and internships. This summer, she worked as an intern at Reynolds Consumer Products in Hot Springs. Reynolds Consumer Products is known for its trusted household products, including Reynolds Wrap foil and Hefty trash bags, slider bags, and disposable tableware.

Purvine receives Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Senior midfielder Jaclyn Purvine has received Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her impeccable goal-scoring form and attacking presence against Austin Peay. Purvine was dominant in the attacking third of the pitch for the Trojans, racking up a total of seven points for the weekend. She scored one goal and tallied an assist in the first match of the weekend against Austin Peay, a team that had not conceded a goal prior to that game.

Metro BCM wins Reach 13,000 Dodgeball Tournament

The UA Little Rock Reach 13,000 Campaign kicked off with a dodgeball tournament that ended in an all-out battle between a campus ministry.The tournament finale came down to a showdown between Metro BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) Team #1 and Metro BCM Team #2. Metro BCM Team#1 came out on top as the winner. Amber Wolf, coordinator of the Chancellor's Leadership Corps, which runs the Reach 13,000 Campaign, would argue that everyone came out a winner in the end. The winning team members include Chyna Dial, Anthony Freeman, Hunter Hobby, Sam Jordan, Lucee Lugo, Logan Snapp, Nia Washington, Mat Wheeler, and Taemora Williams.

Salina Adolph interns with Commission on Immigration

Salina Adolph, a concurrent student with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law and the Clinton School of Public Service, completed an international public service project with the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration in Washington, D.C. Over the summer, Adolph worked to create a comprehensive report of resources and support for immigrants in the United States who are victims of the unauthorized practice of immigration law, also known as immigration consultant fraud. This project will begin the process of providing national coordination for immigration lawyers and advocates who seek to assist immigrants who are victims of immigration consultant fraud.

Summer 2018 Dean's List

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock announces students who have made the Dean's List for the summer 2018 semester, recognizing those students whose academic performances have been superior at the end of each semester. To be on the Dean's List, UA Little Rock students must earn at least nine credit hours and maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average. The student must not have any D, F, I, or "No Credit" grades on their semester grade report.

As finalists, Maddie Burke, junior international studies major, and Ian Wren, senior economics major, presented their papers at the academy's national conference Aug. 11-14 in Portland, Oregon.

Seven University of Arkansas at Little Rock students traveled to Germany this summer for a unique opportunity to experience the art and architecture of Germany. Dr. Lynne Larsen, assistant professor of art history, led the July 2-17 trip, where students studied Rococo, Neoclassical, modern, and contemporary styles of art and architecture.

Warren places fourth at Canadian amateur championship

Little Rock senior Justin Warren had quite the impressive week in Western Canada, finishing fourth among a field of 246 golfers at the 2018 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship. Warren posted a 72-hole total of 11-under 273, finishing seven strokes off the lead.

Little Rock sophomore guard Jaizec Lottie is one of 21 players at the Division I level selected to take part in a 2018 Global Sports Academy tour through Europe. The week-long tour, took place Aug. 10-17, will visit Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam and London.

Three soccer players named to Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference team

Three members of the Trojan soccer team were named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference team, while the soccer team was also picked to finish fourth in the conference standings. Due to their stellar seasons in 2017, senior forward Arola Aparicio Gili, senior defender Liesa Seifert and junior midfielder Doro Greulich earned recognition on the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference team.

UA Little Rock baseball team earns Team Academic Excellence Award

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock baseball team has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association. The Trojans were one of only 50 schools at the Division I level to earn the recognition and one of just two Sun Belt Conference programs among the list.
