Bowen School of Law Center for Racial Justice and Criminal Justice Reform together with the Arkansas Judicial Council hosted a Judicial Listening Series from March 28 through April 14. Events were held in each corner of the state and Little Rock, bringing together communities in these areas and the judges serving them.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock head basketball coach Darrell Walker has announced the addition of transfer guard Ben Coupet Jr. to the Trojan roster. Coupet transfers from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Five members of the Little Rock swimming and diving team were placed on the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Scholar-Athlete Team in recognition of their efforts both in the pool and in the classroom, as announced by the league April 29. The Trojans honored by the league include senior Palmer Ristroph, junior Lea Zengerling, and sophomores Fernanda Gamez, Annya Grom, and Brianna Ridings.

The newly elected student leaders of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock are ready to take charge. Kaitlin "Katie" Zakrzewski, a senior Donaghey Scholar studying criminal justice and anthropology, and Brittany Fugate, a senior history major, were announced last month as the new president and vice-president of the UA Little Rock Student Government Association.

Incoming students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law began their first fall semester on Aug. 10 with a day of public service at Booker T. Washington Elementary School on South Main Street in Little Rock. After a welcome from law school administration, 161 students converged on Washington's campus in record-breaking rain. Little Rock received 3.87 inches of rain, beating a record that had stood since 1915. Through it all, the students, their group leaders, and Bowen Law School staff completed projects both inside and outside the elementary school.

In the fall, Cash Jones will make his college debut as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's first official member of the university's new NCAA Division I wrestling program. As one of the first members of UA Little Rock's debut wrestling cohort, the Bentonville native is coming off an impressive record at Bentonville High School and has plans to keep the momentum going at the college level. "I want to be a national champion, and I want to be a conference champion," Jones said. "I want to make my family proud of me, and I want to make Arkansas proud."

Four UA Little Rock students have received the prestigious Student Undergraduate Research Fellowships from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education to conduct research this spring with help from faculty mentors. The Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program provides up to $2,750 to undergraduate students to conduct in-depth research projects in their specific fields of study with the assistance of faculty mentors. To be eligible, all fellowship recipients have a minimum grade-point average of 3.25, at least 30 hours of credit toward a degree, and support of a faculty mentor. Funds also are provided for students to travel to conferences to present their accomplishments.
