STEM Chateaubriand Fellowship
A University of Arkansas at Little Rock doctoral student has received a competitive fellowship that will allow him to conduct research in France in 2021. Atikur Rahman, a doctoral student in applied physics and a native of Bangladesh, is a recipient of the 2020-21 STEM Chateaubriand Fellowship, which includes airfare, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. Rahman is the first UA Little Rock student to receive the Chateaubriand Fellowship.

UA Little Rock campus bookstore awards $10,000 in scholarships
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Campus Bookstore has awarded $10,000 in student scholarships for the spring 2020 semester. A total of 20 students representing law, graduate, and undergraduate students from across UA Little Rock's colleges have been awarded $500 each as part of the bookstore's 2020 Book Grant Awards.

Ariel Lackey, a master's student in social work, received the Big Red Stores/Family Market scholarship for the 2019-20 year. The scholarship is awarded annually by the UA Little Rock Alumni Association to a full-time or part-time entering freshman, transfer, or continuing student who is an employee or immediate family member of an employee at Big Red Stores/Family Market.

Freshman music education major earns Richard Family Fund Scholarship
A University of Arkansas at Little Rock freshman with dreams of becoming a high school band director was the recipient of this year's Richard Family Fund Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be of immense help to Cesar Guerra Gonzalez, an 18-year-old Little Rock native. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence, and the recipient performs 15 hours of community service with a community agency working with the Hispanic community.

UA Little Rock students receive LULAC scholarships
Eleven students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock have been awarded scholarships from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to continue their education this fall. UA Little Rock's students are among the 35 students from colleges and universities across the state selected for this year's awards. The 11 students are collectively receiving $10,000, with some matching funds from the university. All students were honored Sept. 13 at the LULAC Council 750 Little Rock Scholarship Gala beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock.

Wince awarded B.A. Rudolph Scholarship
Marquisa Wince, a Juris Doctor candidate at the William H. Bowen School of Law and a Master of Public Service candidate at the Clinton School of Public Service, has received the B.A. Rudolph Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. The B.A. Rudolph Foundation awards the $12,000 scholarship annually to a woman who is a rising second-year student at the Clinton School of Public Service and who best embodies the mission and values of the foundation. The B.A. Rudolph Foundation established the scholarship in 2015 in honor of the organization's namesake, B.A. Rudolph, a 1978 graduate of the University of Arkansas and a member of Bill Clinton's gubernatorial and presidential staffs.

Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers Presents Scholarships to Bowen Students
The Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers (AAWL) has awarded two female law students from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law bar examination preparation scholarships. AAWL celebrated their annual scholarship winners during an April 5 meeting at the Little Rock Club, where Joann Maxey, general counsel of the University of Arkansas System, served as the guest speaker. LULAC Scholarship recipients
Eleven University of Arkansas at Little Rock students were recently honored during a scholarship ceremony and banquet sponsored by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 750 Little Rock. The banquet, held Sept. 28 in the Great Hall of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, honored 56 students selected to receive scholarships from LULAC Council 750 Little Rock. Several central Arkansas colleges and universities, including UA Little Rock, match the LULAC Scholarships and/or offer full scholarships to students who have passed the rigorous LULAC selection process.

Taemora Williams wins scholarship to intern abroad
Taemora Williams plans to improve her language skills and gain professional experience by interning at a nonprofit organization promoting children's film in Valencia, Spain, this summer. To help pay for the trip, Williams received a scholarship from the Fund for Education Abroad. The fund contains 100 scholarships totaling $335,000, which are awarded to U.S. students who are consistently underrepresented in study abroad programs. The students come from a variety of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The 2018 Fund for Education Abroad winners were selected from a pool of over 2,300 applicants from 517 colleges and universities across the country.

Watson receives 2018 Parins Scholarship from Sequoyah National Research Center
Tori Watson, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in professional and technical writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is the 2018 recipient of the James W. Parins Intern Scholarship at the Sequoyah National Research Center. The Parins scholarship was established in 2017 as a way to honor the legacy of SNRC's co-founder Dr. James W. Parins. Acxiom Diversity Scholarship recipient
University of Arkansas at Little Rock students won four of this year's 10 Acxiom Diversity Scholarships. In its sixth year, the highly competitive program provides $5,000 and an opportunity for a paid internship at Acxiom, a leading data provider for marketers. The company selects recipients from throughout the country based on their professional interests and academic achievement in an information technology-related field of study. "Acxiom is passionate about helping the next generation of leaders pursue their dreams through computer science and information technology careers," said Scott Howe, Acxiom CEO and president, in a news release. "Our support positions them for future success and helps foster a more diverse pool of qualified talent, which will benefit the marketing and technology industries for years to come." All four UA Little Rock award winners are students in the Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology. This year's award decisions were particularly challenging because of the quality of the scholarship applications, said Tammy Sanders, Acxiom director of engagement. "We look forward to the contributions these students will make to Acxiom and to the marketing industry," Sanders said in the news release.
