Roy Lewallen raises money for Kappa Sigma's Scholarship-Leadership Awards

2018 Mar 15

Roy Lewallen of Bryant, AR, a member of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Kappa Sigma fraternity, helped the national organization raise $2,383 this year for its scholarship-leadership awards, more than any other Kappa Sigma chapter in the state.

The goal set by the national Kappa Sigma Fraternity for the UA Little Rock chapter was $1,500, so the national organization recognized the outstanding work done by the undergraduates in meeting and then exceeding their goal.

The effort was spearheaded by Theta Eta chapter President Chris Stephens, who has said that he could not be more proud of what his brothers are able to accomplish when they come together in such a unified manner.

"The fact that any single chapter of Kappa Sigma, much less one of our size, can raise this amount of money in three days demonstrates that I truly belong to the greatest fraternity on Earth," Stephens exclaimed. "I am excited to be a part of something that can so positively impact the lives of these guys, and I look forward to absolutely shattering this record next year."

The $2,383 the chapter raised was more than double the amount raised by the next highest fundraising chapter in the state, and will also more than double the existing pool of scholarship money available to the chapter.

Nationally, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity raised $312,765. One hundred percent of the funds raised will benefit the undergraduate fraternity members, as scholarships are given out yearly to the top men in the chapter.
