Paloma Salazar announced as Calculus Bowl winner

Paloma Salazar of Little Rock, AR, won sixth place in the individual category of the Calculus Bowl hosted by the Mathematics and Statistics Department on April 6.

Once students registered for the event, a calculus contest was held for the interested participants. The students had 40 minutes to answer the 15 question exam. The top two winners, or students with the highest scores on the test, received a $100 cash prize, the following ten, $20 cash prizes, and the final ten, $10 cash prizes.

After the competition, the students had lunch and gathered together to go head to head in math jeopardy.

Five teams participated in the competition including UA Little Rock, University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, the University of Central Arkansas, and Arkansas Technical College.

During the competition's close, UAPB was announced as the reigning champ for the second year in a row.
