Matthew Maguire lands leading role in Conway production

2015 Jan 5

Matthew Maguire of Augusta, a senior at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, has landed the lead role in "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead."

The play opens at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at The Lantern in downtown Conway. It is a dark comedy based on characters from the Peanuts comic strip without the same lighthearted themes.

Maguire portrays CB, the lead character, after having performed in several Little Rock-based productions and in films for the 48-hour Film Festival. He said people of his generation will recognize the personality types seen in the play from their years in high school.

The Lantern is at 1021 Van Ronkle St. in Conway. Tickets to Dog Sees God are $10, and the play will be performed again Friday and Saturday, as well as as well as Jan, 15, 16 and 17.

Student "rush" tickets will be available on Jan. 10 and 17 at $5 each with a valid student ID, if seats are available. Rush tickets mean that students can check in at the box office between 7:30-8 p.m, be put on a waiting list, and if seats are available, will be admitted for $5.
