Madison Pitts attends prestigious conference at Harvard Law School

2017 Oct 20

Madison Pitts of Lollie was one of two University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law students to attend the Ms. JD's National Women's Law Students Organization Leadership Academy at Harvard Law School this fall.

The goal of the conference was to further the mission of supporting and improving the experiences of women law students, provide them with new opportunities, enhance their national law school network, and equip them with professional development tools.

Pitts was one of 50 female law students selected to attend the event this year. Participation in the academy required that students be entering their second or third year of law school and had served or desired to serve in a leadership role in the law school community.

"Meeting female law students who are doing great things in their law school and community was a privilege," Pitts said. "Daina and I are honored to have been included in the group."

Throughout the conference, the students heard several lectures from renowned law professionals who taught the economic advantages of being a part of a diverse workplace. They also connected with other law students from around the U.S. who were eager to learn more about the profession.

"In speaking with other students, we learned that not every school puts a value on this professional development," Rodriguez said. "Madison and I are proud to be Bowen students and honored to have had this opportunity."
