Justin Johnson named EAST Scholar

Justin Johnson of White Hall, a 2013 graduate of White Hall High School, has been selected as an Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST) Scholar at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

This student joins nine others this year who are selected from a competitive pool of applicants.

Those selected as EAST Scholars are awarded $10,000 per academic year, totaling $40,000 over four years. EAST Scholars are provided a distinctive learning environment as a member of an on-campus residential community.

To compete as an EAST Scholar at UALR, potential freshmen must have participated in EAST at least one year in high school and submit a 250-word statement of goals and future plans and two letters of recommendation, one of which must come from an EAST facilitator.

Scholars must also submit ACT/SAT scores and possess a 3.0 GPA upon high school graduation or at least a 600 GED score.
