Camren Kvaternik of Little Rock performs in annual Opera Gala

2015 Mar 26

Glasses were raised and applause resounded throughout the Clinton Presidential Center as student vocalists from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Opera Theatre serenaded guests with "Canti del Cuore" or "Songs of the Heart" on March 19.

The performances were part of the annual Opera Gala. Proceeds from the gala support the vocal arts program at UALR.

Camren Kvaternik, a graduate-level business administration major at UALR from Little Rock, was among the performers.

"We not only have some of the best music students at UALR, we have some of the best performers in the state," Dr. Rosella Ewing, director of opera studies at UALR, said as she introduced the Opera Gala Ensemble.

The students each performed various selections throughout the evening gala, which included a reception where the vocalists, guests, and donors mingled before dinner was served.

Ewing directed the performances and Dr. Kyung-Eun Na, assistant professor of music, accompanied the performers on the piano and served as musical coach.
